Responsive research for social change.

The goal of our work is to ensure that all Canadian children have the tools to succeed.

The Start2Finish Research Team utilizes a multi-pronged, culturally responsive, trauma-informed framework focused on literacy, physical activity/movement, psychosocial development, mentorship and parent engagement to equip children from low-income communities for success. Through a multi-disciplinary approach, we look to better understand the conditions of deprivation to suggest and enact impactful interventions.

“Activist scholarship attempts to intervene in a particular historical-geographical moment by changing not only what people do but also how all of us think about ourselves and our time and place, by opening the world we make.”

— Ruth Wilson Gilmore, Forgotten Places and the Seeds of Grassroots Planning
