Brandon was a grade 2 student who was participating in the Start2Finish Running and Reading club at FD Roosevelt. He was asked to leave the club for four weeks due to an unwillingness to adhere to and engage in the program with the other students, but every day he asked if he could come back. After discussions with his mother, teacher, the administration at the school and Club Directors, the decision was made to bring Brandon back into the program. Brandon gave everyone big hugs and thanked them for letting him back into the program, and he promised to work extra hard. Brandon started the club reading below grade one, and when he finished, he was reading at the grade 2 level. Brandon was so very proud of the medal he received for completing the 5km run. It was the first award Brandon had ever received. He now recognizes he can be part of a team, contribute to a group, and work hard towards a goal and achieve what he never thought was possible.
