regional DIRECTOR: marie
In 2016, I joined as Start2Finish's Regional Director for Guelph. The more than 20 years of experience, in the private and non-profit sectors, has provided me leadership and oversight on the development and implementation of volunteer and donor engagement strategies and stewardship of the Start2finish brand.
In Guelph, Start2finish currently has four Running & Reading Clubs with approximately 160 participate and over 40 community volunteers. These clubs participate in a 32-week after-school program through local schools: Willow Road Public School, Brant Avenue Public School and Westwood Public School. In fall 2017, a new club will open at Gateway Drive Public School. Clubs are capped at 60 children between Grades 3-6, and include fitness activities including circuit training, running, and active games; a “Word of the Day” character-building session; nutritious snacks and fruit juice; one-on-one and small group reading; and a take-home summer package including a fitness program and reading materials.
As the Guelph Regional Director, I work very closely with Guelph’s Regional Cabinet who are made up of community leaders with big hearts, and are the driving force behind our community and fund development.
I have worked with major brands across numerous sectors, from financial services to government services to non-profit. My non-profit experience extends to campaigns for World Vision and United Way; She was also part of team that funded the building of a school in Kenya through Free the Children.
As a dedicated community member, I have several volunteer roles such as McMaster Children Hospital Scotiabank Champion, parent council as treasurer at local elementary school where my daughters attended and as a club leader at Kids Klub, a junior youth group, high energy event, for elementary school aged young people (Grade 5-8).
